Rev Andrew A Smith
1994 – 2001
Associate Minister
In 1994 the Session, after reviewing the life and work of the church, decided to assist the minister with an Associate Minister, under a new scheme just introduced by the General Assembly. Ballywillan was the first congregation outside Belfast itself, to seek to appoint an Associate under this scheme, and issued a call to the Rev Andrew Smith, a student for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church in America . Mr Smith had studied in Gordon Conwell College in America and was installed in Ballywillan in 1994. For the next 7 years, he and his wife Tara, and their children Fiona and Duncan, shared in the life and ministry until after Mr Frazer retired in 2000. Andrew Smith received a call to Dun Laoghaire Congregation in 2001.
